Gatherings Magazine Spring Issue is HERE! Artists + Artisans

In a world that often cries, "Me, me!  Look at MEEEEEEE!", my childhood friend, Heather Thompson, editor-in-chief of Gatherings Magazine, sings a refreshingly different chorus.  Despite her own incredible talents as an artist and designer, Heather works tirelessly to highlight the creative accomplishments and endeavors of others.  She is the artists' champion.  Their ambassador.

Today, the Spring 2014 issue of Gatherings Magazine has been released.  Artists + Artisans is a strong continuation of Heather's desire to be the voice for creative talents around the world.

In Heather's words, "Gatherings is an independent, home-grown magazine with a mission to provide beautiful inspiration for everyday living and encourage creative spirits."

Here is a preview of Heather's hard work to do just that...

You can view the digital version of this magazine for $4.95.  A print version is available for $14.95.  A one-year subscription is available for $60.  Please visit the online shop for purchases.

Gatherings Magazine, Spring 2013 "Tea in the Afternoon"

I love it when the creativity of women is joined into a bouquet of absolute loveliness.

Such a bouquet can be found in the gorgeous spring issue of Gatherings magazine, founded by my dear childhood friend, Heather Spriggs-Thompson.

Heather invited me to contribute to this issue, and as I pondered on what to submit, I could think of few better ways to welcome the glory of springtime than by hosting an afternoon tea party.
And so that's what I did.
I had so much fun setting up for this photo shoot.  My children were at a friend's house for the night, so I indulged in the rare luxury of time and was able to relax and have a blast being creative.

I hope you enjoy my article (beginning on page 34; the recipes begin on page 106).

The magazine is full of beautiful images and wonderful ideas:  everything from a quick and easy freshening of a space (hello, contact paper!) on page 60 , to ideas for your Easter table (page 72), to a fantastic treasure-trove of ideas for creative play with your little ones (page 85).

I'd love it if you could take a few minutes and delight in this labor of love of my dear friend.

Be sure to pour yourself a nice cup of tea first, though.  Click here for the magazine!

Gathering Magazine, Fall 2011

She's done it again:  my dear life-long friend Heather Spriggs Thompson has released the second issue of her incredible magazine, Gatherings.  The publication is 120 glorious pages of inspiring fall crafts, holiday ideas, and recipes.  Heather sweetly asked me to contribute some squash recipes: I gladly obliged!  You can view the photos of squash-deliciousness beginning on page 78; the recipes begin on page 112.

Please pour yourself a cup of something warm and comforting and sit down to feast your eyes on all the loveliness of the autumn season.  You'll see that Heather has done an absolutely incredible job.  She also announced in her forward that she and her husband, Robert, are expecting their first baby in April!  So, keep in mind that Heather did all of this awesome work while in the throes of "morning" sickness.
